Emine is a woman who has suffered violence and sexual abuse at the hands of her husband, Mesut. One day, while attempting to flee from him, she is caught; during the ensuing struggle, her husband's gun discharges. Although Mesut survives, his condition is critical. Ayten Çetiner, a renowned lawyer who primarily handles cases involving female victims of violence, takes on Emine's case. Ayten had previously elevated the "Ses Sizsiniz" (You Are the Voice) Association—founded by her mother, Nilüfer—to an international level and achieved significant success; she had lost her mother to cancer. By a remarkable coincidence, Emine hails from the same village as Ayten's mother. Despite the passage of many years, the events that transpired in that village reinforce the notion that "the past is a mirror to the future."
